Best TV Episodes Never Made

George Lucas wanted to make an episode on the Young Indiana Jones Adventures of the Crystal Skull. He never did but he held onto that dream until later. So if he’d made it…

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons - Season 2, Episodes 29-33; a five-part arc to end the series

Episode 29 - Cloudbase Down: The Mysterons threaten to take Cloudbase out of the sky (again). Captain Black turns several military officials into Mysteron agents to carry out this plot. They succeed, but thanks to Captain Scarlet and several world leaders, no one is hurt. Nevertheless, it’s clear that Spectrum, and Earth, need serious help.

Episode 30 - Signs of Life: A prominent scientist is working with Spectrum on a device to detect signs of life on other planets, in hopes of forming alliances between them and Earth to ultimately defeat the Mysterons. But when the Mysterons kill the scientist and replace him with a Mysteron duplicate, it’s up to Spectrum and the scientist’s assistant to finish the device before the Mysterons destroy it! They succeed, and find only one non-Martian planet in the solar system with any signs of life- Venus! Strangely enough, there are apparently no signs of life on Mars, despite the existence of the Mysterons providing evidence to the contrary…

Episode 31 - Countdown: After noticing signs of life on Venus, Spectrum and NASA conduct a mission to send Captain Scarlet to Venus in order to make contact with the inhabitants, inform them of the Mysteron threat, and ask for their help. But the Mysterons assassinate the head engineers of the spacecraft and replace them with duplicates, ordered to sabotage the ship before Scarlet can leave Earth for help. Thanks to (and fortunately for) Spectrum, the plan fails, and Captain Scarlet leaves for Venus.

Episode 32 - Mission to Venus: Captain Scarlet lands on Venus, where he discovers the main form of life- a predominantly female species of blue humanoids whose society functions similarly to that of Earth’s, only more scientifically advanced (for the planet, and its life, was formed much earlier). Scarlet discusses the Mysteron threat with Venus’s top scientist, Professor Aphrodite, but she initially dismisses Scarlet’s claims- after all, they have a device that allows them to detect life on other planets, and it clearly states there is no life on Mars. However, a new super-telescope developed by Venus’s other scientists allows Scarlet to prove his point as he and Aphrodite locate the Mysteron city. Aphrodite is in disbelief, and she drops a bombshell on the audience- the Mysterons (that is, the real Mysterons) have abandoned Mars 200 years ago! The super-telescope, however, can also look inside the city. While Scarlet gets what he thinks is his first glimpse of the Mysterons, Aphrodite realizes what’s really going on- these aren’t the Mysterons themselves, but rather their battle computers! While the real Mysterons have abandoned Mars, their city and their battle computers have been left behind, programmed to respond to retaliate without question to any possible threat, with no remorse, no boundaries, and now no masters to reign them in. Meanwhile, Captain Black, who has followed Scarlet to Mars, assassinates and reconstructs Aphordite’s trusted assistant, Dr. Persephone. The revived Persephone is ordered to prevent anyone else on Venus from discovering the Mysteron threat to Earth- by killing Professor Aphrodite and Captain Scarlet!

Episode 33 - Endgame: After coming to the conclusion that the only way to fully eradicate life on Earth is to destroy the planet, the Mysteron battle computers announce their intention to do exactly that, by taking control of every nation with nuclear weapons and launching all of the nukes at once. As part of this plot, Captain Black and the Mysteron computers assassinate and duplicate many prominent political figures- including Colonel White, head of Spectrum! While most of the remaining Spectrum agents split up to fight off the Mysteron agents, Captain Scarlet and Professor Aphrodite take off on a mission to Mars to shut down the Mysterons once and for all! Once they land on Mars, our heroes come face to face with Captain Black. Scarlet decides to take Black on, while Aphrodite searches for a way to shut down the Mysteron city, and with it, the battle computers. She eventually discovers the floor plan to the city, but the Mysteron computers take her hostage. Scarlet pretends to surrender in order to get a closer look at the floor plan, then runs off to sabotage the wiring, which will shut off the city. But Captain Black gives chase, and ends up slamming Scarlet into a wall next to the city’s wiring box, which he quickly opens and tears off the now-exposed wiring. This shuts down the city and releases the duplicates (including Captain Black) from Mysteron control, but kills Captain Scarlet due to his weakness to high voltage. The episode, and the series, ends with both Professor Aphrodite and Colonel White holding a funeral for Captain Scarlet, with all of Spectrum attending. Chief among the attendees are Captain Blue, Destiny Angel, and Captain Black.

Cool!

Dallas Season 10, Episode 2 - “Doth Mother Know?”
With J.R., Sue Ellen, and Pam still in hospital from their injuries, it seems that nothing can stop President Zapote from out-muscling Ewing Oil from its Asian oil holdings. As part of a last ditch attempt, Ellie Ewing takes it on herself to keep the company afloat... and starts acting like J.R, and her first order of business is to butt heads with Zapote.

Leads to one of the best-acted lines in the show's history.

"Now I know why."
"Now I know where I got it from."

Dallas Season 10, Episode 3 - “Triple Ticket”
Ellie makes a desperate gamble and tries to convince Cliff Barnes to aid the Ewings. It's a tricky situation for Cliff as speaking against Zapote might hurt his chances at a Senate run next year, not with Zapote publicly touted as an American ally. Luckily, they find a potentially willing ally in Texas State Senator Carter McKay (George Kennedy) who has something interesting lined up for everyone involved…

Dallas Season 10, Episode 4 - "Four-Finger Salute”
Carter McKay proposes an interesting deal for JR and Cliff: he wants the former on the election ticket with him and the latter to run his old oil company, WestStar Oil. However he didn't count on President Zapote, having just arrived in the States, has a spy in his campaign staff, and their name is a mystery, for now at least.

Ultraviolet Series 2
The original six part series from 1998 was good but left a lot of opportunities hanging. Here's 6 possible next episodes for Series 2, but not necessarily in order.
While keeping the interesting takes on how people are being manipulated add in some hints of active code 5 sympathiser groups:
Dealing with vigilante groups who have common aims, but risk undermining and exposing the main team's work by high civilian casualties:
Hints of code 5 factions, and whether they can or should try to work with these to reduce the overall threat:
Civilian crime gang that is using drug addiction to control people which appears to be code 5 but isn't, causing some crises of conscience when the gang members find out a bit too much about code 5 activity.
Code 5 attack appears to target the team and threatens their base. Has security been compromised and what to do about it? Brings in the first glimpse at other networks of code 5 hunters and hints at the shadowy backers.
Concerns that code5 teams are orchestrating raves for recruiting and feeding purposes.

The last episode (possibly the fifth in my list that brings in other offices) provides the opportunity for a new boss to replace the ailing Father Harman.
I would also like to see Michael's ex Frances being brought into the team or - probably better - being officially made available as a resource while still keeping her job though not in the core team.

There's no real reason why it couldn't run for more seasons - the Professionals blended investigation with action for five longer series with very few dud - it had a really strong likeable but unlikeable core cast with a few repeat supporting characters. Progressively for the late 70s, at times it showed the damage that such a job can do to the people doing it, which could fit well with Ultraviolet. Ultraviolet did need a bit extra spark, but I think this could have been developed without spoiling the pacing and style.
For later series, the Millennium bug and its impacts would be a perfect ongoing theme, coupled with exploring ways for code 5 to better use technology as it devdlops, and for developments in sensor and detection technology.

Edit:
Michael's ex was Frances, Fiona was the actress - now corrected.

SpongeBob SquarePants Season 6, Episode 2B: "Nautical Novice"
SpongeBob tries to impress Mrs. Puff during a class trip to a boat-turned boating museum... but events quickly escalate when the museum starts sailing again!

Notable for being the episode where SpongeBob finally gets his boating license - well learner's permit, technically -as he manages to control and handle the boat well, impressing everyone, even Mrs. Puff.

Though the whole boating license subplot is over, Mrs. Puff still appears as a recurring character, mainly because SpongeBob also has to intern at her boating school while he's not working at the Krusty Krab to log in enough hours to officially earn his full license.

(major alteration from the OTL episode)

Me fixing the series finale.

Star vs. the Forces of Evil
Season 4 Episode 37- "Cleaved"

The episode largely goes the same though the episode refers to Star "cleaving" the Realm of Magic over away from Mewni. This done through what Star calls "The Final Spell." With magic having been "cleaved" away over from Mewni, the massive disaster is over and the monsters are now safe. However, the episode both in how something can be cleaved apart and be cleaved together.

Here, while magic is cleaved away from Mewni, Mewni also ends up being cleaved together in also a roundabout sense. With magic's disappearance, the monsters and Mewmans sympathetic to them end up forming a uniting kingdom while the traitors end up losing their memories (this was partially done with Moon and Eclipsa using the last of their magic together). The Magic High Commission end up being trapped in the Realm of Magic as guardians for their penance while Glossyark "goes on vacation" as he puts it.

Hekapoo meanwhile does end up getting off easy thanks to aiding the heroes and her final act is creating a "permanant" hole between Mewni and Earth. Thanks to this, Marco and Star still having their scissors and other tricks, the two are still together and are given a party by everyone (including characters that we haven't seen in a while).

Here are some ideas I had for how I'd have made some episodes of Hanna-Barbera's adaptation of The Smurfs closer to the original graphic novel stories they were adapted from.

The Smurfette
Much of the story begins similarly to the original comic in that Smurfette is initially reviled as ugly. Upon learning this, an enraged Gargamel threatens Smurfette with being returned to mere clay. Smurfette becomes desperate to avoid this fate, which leads to the attempts to round up the actual Smurfs seen in the cartoon episode. Also, Papa Smurf's method for making Smurfette into a real smurf involves dipping her into a boiling potion. When the other Smurfs are horrified, Brainy insists that Papa Smurf knows what he's doing and they have no need to think he just murdered someone - and Brainy is quickly proven right.

King Smurf
In the original story, a smurf other than Brainy is elected to become King Smurf. In this take on the TV adaption, said Smurf remains an unnamed Smurf voiced by Neil Ross. The subsequent conflict between "King Smurf" and Brainy also parodies the real-life one between Stalin and Trotsky to some extent.

The Simpsons
Season 11, Episode 22: Bart's Eleventh Birthday

The series finale of The Simpsons, the episode is an hour-long special about the events leading up to Bart's birthday. As Bart prepares to turn 11, he begins realizing that Springfield is beginning to change in ways now noticeable to him. Bart's own existenial crisis begins influencing the family as well: Lisa herself beginning to deal with her more radica desires vs her love of order, Marge becomes concerned of the disconnect with her kids and so on. Yet, surprisingly, it's Homer who is able to calm and reassure everyone that it'll be okay, something he comes to the realization to when he finds an old letter from his mother. The episode ends with a large party thrown and a scene of the Springfielders.

The episode was created afte Matt Groening had a close call with death in a car accident, and noted how it set off an existential crisis abut growing up. He also said he wanted to go and do other things, deciding to have the Simpsons end on a high note. While he confirmed he and his team would be still working on Futurama, he noted that he would be taking more time for himself and enjoying life. Many considered a changing of the times with the end of the Simpsons.

An idea on how a Simpsons series finale back then would look like.

This would actually make for a very heartwarming series finale.

Phineas and Ferb Season 1, Episode 1, "Rollercoaster"
Basically the same as OTL, but with one big difference.

Candace at first tries to bust the boys with the help of Bust 'Em hosts Morty Williams (Geraldo Rivera) and Lulu Jones (Viki Lewis) but then overhears the duo's plan to send the boys to Smile Away Reformatory School, run by the sadistic Drill Sergeant Brown (Clancy Brown). Realizing that sending the boys there is not worth her personal satisfaction, Candace tries to foil the scheme.

As per the OTL episode, Linda never finds out, but this earns the ire of the three busing-addicted adults, who then become recurring antagonists on the show. Candace thus spends the rest of the series foiling the trio's attempts to bust the boys.

(repost as I mistakenly posted this in the best TV shows never made thread)

Animaniacs (1993) Episode 100: "Dot's Very Own Song / Goodfeathers to Bad Rubbish / Dog Eat Dog"
Premiered in May 1999 as a special event, or to counter the premiere of Mickey Mouse Works on ABC, the final episode of Animaniacs gives longtime fans some stuff they've always wanted to see.

Dot's Very Own Song: Dot Warner sings about perfume. It's not much, but it gives Dot Warner her own song to sing.

Goodfeathers to Bad Rubbish: The Goodfeathers manage to make themselves at home. Unfortunately, it happens to be the home of Slappy Squirrel, who actually whacks them out with her purse. She even quips that she "hasn't used it in six years", an obtuse homage to her part in the opening credits.

Dog Eat Dog: The short starts with how a Buttons and Mindy cartoon ends, with Buttons getting scolded for something minor. 100 episodes of this is enough for the poor dog, so he actually speaks to prove his innocence. The following five and a half minutes is one long speech from Buttons about how he has been saving their daughter and getting nothing from it, complete with footage from earlier B&M cartoons to back up his claims. To end his speech, he tells them to pay attention to Mindy in the future, or he won't be so protective next time. Mindy's mother realizes the error of her ways and actually cancels her pilates classes for the next month to spend more time getting to know her own child.

(You can tell how I feel about animal abuse being a running gag from how I wrote that last one.)

Gone Fishin'
The Boondocks
Season 5, Episode 1 "Hail to the Trump"

Werner Herzog is back in Woodcrest for another documentary, and this time, its about the 2016 election.

Huey, like in the 2008 race, is indifferent to the election as he dislikes all of the candidates. Granddad initially is disinterested in the race as well, but that changes when he's approached by Uncle Ruckus. Ruckus, to no one's surprise, is elated at Trump's presidential campaign, and becomes his biggest advocate in Woodcrest. Ruckus promises Robert that he will be paid handsomely if he campaigns for Trump, which the latter agrees to with zero hesitation.

Riley too is supportive because he naively believes that Trump's business acumen and his bombastic demeanor makes him a "pretty dope gangster", which makes the young wannabe respect him. But this puts him at odds with Cindy, who absolutely loathes Trump and is planning to assassinate him, and the two friends end up having a nasty fallout.

Meanwhile, Tom and Sarah are once again at each other's throats. While they both are unapologetic Democrats, Tom is all in on Hillary yet Sarah is rooting for Bernie. Sarah adores Bernie's political proposals and she truly dislikes Hillary for her past comments on Obama, for staying with her adulterous husband, for being an elitist and for being unlikable in general. This makes Tom very angry because she did the same thing with Ralph Nader in 2000, and Nader's campaign was considered a huge reason why Gore lost to Bush.

The squabbling gets so bad that Jazmine has to temporarily stay with the Freemans for a while. Speaking of Jazmine, she feels absolutely lost. For the first time, she doesn't know how she wants to support and it makes her question her faith in America for the first time. She and Huey bond over the worsening political landscape.

Once Hillary secures the nomination, Jazmine moves back into the DuBois home and Sarah reluctantly decides to support Hillary, for she despises Trump even more. Huey begins to clash with his brother and Granddad over their misguided support for Trump, and eventually he is allowed to live with the DuBois family until the election is over.

When Election Day finally comes, everyone is gathered to watch the results. As the night progresses, Tom grows disheartened and Sarah is seething, while Ruckus is increasingly ecstatic. When Clinton concedes the election, Ruckus immediately celebrates, as does Robert and Riley. Tom becomes distraught while Sarah has a legendary meltdown, cussing out Hillary like a sailor. Jazmine, growing increasingly detached from the surrounding drama, becomes despondent and no longer has any optimism. This makes Huey awful, but there's nothing he can do about it.

Woodcrest becomes engulfed with brawls and riots, with one such fight being between Riley and Cindy, who's fully intent on killing Trump. But Riley becomes disillusioned with Trump when the latter chooses "establishment pigs" for his cabinet, causing the boy to denounce Trump as a fraud. Robert is happily anticipating his payment, but Ruckus reveals that it was given to Wuncler Sr. and Jr. instead, since The Freemans are in massive debt to them.

Robert is heartbroken by this, and it causes Riley and Huey to resent Trump even more. Cindy goes to the Freeman house and Riley apologizes to her for his foolish support of Trump. Cindy forgives him and the two reconcile. But the real reason she came over is because she needs Huey's help to assassinate Trump at the Wuncler's donor banquet. Huey agrees to this as long as they kill the two Wunclers as well, and Riley volunteers to help Cindy shoot the president-elect.

Meanwhile, Sarah, after failing to convince Tom to immigrate to Canada as a family, becomes increasingly nasty and confrontational as time passes. Tom, already numb to the pain, suggests they must preserve through the setback. But Sarah is having none of it and she starts to get into public, and cuss-filled, arguments with Trump supporters, even giving a iconic profanity-laced rant about both Hillary and Trump. This rant becomes a meme and soon everyone in Woodcrest is talking about it, even at school. This embarrassment, on top of the toxicity back home, makes Jazmine feel even more miserable and she starts to do badly at school as her motivation for success disintegrates even further. Her misery does not go unnoticed by Sarah though.

The day of the banquet arrives and Huey, monitoring from the DuBois' guest bedroom, helps Riley and Cindy sneak into position while Trump makes his grand entrance. Jazmine walks in on Huey and frantically tries to stop the plan. Huey forcefully tells her that they're doing this for the greater good, and Jazmine angrily responds with "I hate you!" before storming out. Huey, stunned by those comments, initially tries to stop her before ultimately relenting to precede with the plan.

Sarah walks upstairs to check on the commotion and Jazmine, in the heat of the moment, finally snaps at her mother. The biracial girl rants about the bitter polarization of a country she's lost faith in, and she calls out Sarah for her abhorrent behavior and for embarrassing her at school with her rant becoming a widely-circulated meme. Sarah, realizing how her anger has so negatively affected Jazmine, tears up and she profusely apologizes to her daughter. She promises her that she will be a better role model and she'll bring much more positivity into the household for now on. And Sarah tells Jazmine not to lose faith in America and to always keep hope that things will get better even when things are bleak. Sarah asks Jazmine for forgiveness, which she tearfully accepts and they have a very tender hug.

Jazmine then alerts Sarah on the assassination plot, and they both barge in to plead with Huey to stop the plan. Huey tells them that killing Trump will save America and killing the Wunclers will bring his family out of debt. While Sarah agrees that Trump should be killed, much to Jazmine's chagrin, she tells him that he, Riley and Cindy shouldn't risk their lives and freedom for it. Huey, after seeing the look on Jazmine's face, communicates to Riley and Cindy to abort the plan.

Cindy, from the hiding spot while Ruckus is giving a speech, angrily tells him that she will gladly be arrested for killing Trump and she will forever remembered as a legend for the deed. This frightens Riley, as them actually going to jail for this wasn't part of the plan, so he frantically tries to persuade Cindy to back off. But this falls on deaf ears, as Cindy locks in on Trump standing up from his seat and shaking Ruckus' hand on stage. But Riley tries to wrestle the sniper rifle away from Cindy, causing her to misfire and hit Ruckus in the chest instead. As Ruckus goes down, the whole banquet is in pandemonium and the two troublemakers run as fast they can from the security guards. Jazmine frightfully asks if Trump was shot and Huey responds that it was Ruckus instead, which causes Sarah quietly mutter "shit" under her breath.

At the time of the inauguration, as it's revealed that Ruckus made a full recovery. Cindy willingly takes all of the blame for the shot, but no charges are filled against her because Ruckus doesn't want to "throw a little white girl in jail". Instead, Cindy is made to go to therapy, which actually helps her cope better with her family strife. Speaking of which, Cindy convinces her mother to pay off the rest of the Freeman's debt in exchange for a few favors, which Robert reluctantly agrees to.

Sarah and Tom have fully reconciled and now are dealing with the Trump presidency more healthily, though they still despise him and pledge to send the White House an angry letter every month he is in office. Meanwhile, Jazmine's grades are back up and she is in far better spirits. She still has doubts about the direction that America is going, but Huey tells her that it's good to have doubt and that leadership should be questioned, no matter who is in charge. Jazmine, after so long of dismissing this notion, finally understands the wisdom of what Huey was spewing all along. Overcome with emotion, she gives Huey a kiss on the cheek and hugs him. Huey, stunned but secretly happy with it, allows her to keep hugging him and he even gives a very small smile.

The episode ends with Herzog asking Huey what he plans to do with Trump during his term in office, and Huey responds with, "Like I said before.... I'm retired".

(A nice way that the series could've been continued after the disappointing fourth season. R.I.P. John Witherspoon and Ed Asner)

I went and created a 10-episode DC Elseworlds season in just an hour.

Episode 1: Batman and Decido
Batman reveals his secret identity to Harvey Dent earlier, and Harvey becomes his vigilante sidekick. He comes up with the name Decido because he also wants to conquer his fears.

Episode 2: Say Hello to Auntie Kara
Kara Zor-El is found in Smallville one year after Kal-El is adopted by the Kents. This means that Kara Danvers is older and more experienced than she would be in the mainline comics.

Episode 3: Duchess Stevie: Wonder Girl
During the midst of the Vietnam War, Steve Trevor decides to undergo a mystical sex change to save his life. After now being called Stevie by Diana, she retains the impulsiveness of her male past.

Episode 4: Arthur Curry: Scourge of the Seven Seas
After discovering his Atlantean heritage, Arthur Curry becomes the most feared pirate in all history. Between the water breathing and the openly-mocked marine communication, few have returned to shore from trying to end his plundering reign.

Episode 5: Super Green Lantern Force
Five years after Sinestro all but wiped out the Green Lanterns, the last remaining lanterns wind up in the hands of four young adults in flight school and one team mascot/pet: The friend group consists of Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Jessica Cruz, and Jessica's pet squirrel Chip. When the quintet utters the oath of the Green Lanterns, they obtain the powers of said lanterns. To add comedic effect, Chip begins to walk and talk like a human after gaining these superpowers.

Episode 6: Ladies and Gentleman, John Jones!
Martian Manhunter becomes a lounge singer to fund his scientific endeavors to go back to Mars.

Episode 7: The Fast and the Flurriest
Barry Allen and Leonard Snart are frenemies whose fights are just one continuous prank war.

Episode 8: Jurassic League
Just an adaptation of the Jurassic League comics. If any of these episodes spins off into its own show, it'll be this one.

Episode 9: Justice League Harlem
Cyborg founds his own superhero team, which is how Milestone Comics gets involved in this show. The other members of Cyborg's team are Black Lightning, Static Shock, Icon, and Hardware.

Episode 10: Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Morning
Bruce and Clark make a bet on who can do the most menial labor without their abilities. Just pure brute strength. Clark still holds back to give Bruce a fighting chance.

Pretty interesting idea, but I figured Kara would also be adopted by the Kents once she's found out, especially if she's looking for her baby cousin.
