Then it should be Sarah Palin being sworn in as VP.
Inauguration Day is in January, two months after the election. If anything happens to the Vice President, the House majority or minority leader (for reference, Gerald Ford was the House minority leader by the time Agnew resigned from office) becomes Vice President. Hope that clarifies it.

National Enquirer's cover of John Edwards' affair.

Besides the Russian invasion of neighboring Georgia and the Great Recession, the news cycle was dominated by John Edwards, Vice President of the United States (2005-08), affair with a filmmaker for the re-election campaign of the Kerry administration: Rielle Hunter. Edwards resigned from office in August 2008. Months later, the Democrats lost the White House for the first time in four years.

A video of lightning striking both the Twin Towers and the Empire State Building during a thunder storm on July 1, 2001. Video likely wouldn't have as many views as it does in OTL.

A news report from WABC-TV ABC Channel 7 New York talking about things like Michael Jordan (which would be talked about a lot for the rest of the week) coming back to the NBA, a wild high school party and the outrage it caused from the parents and schoolboard and the beautiful weather forecasted for September 11th. Just a normal day for the New York City metro area.

Former President George W. Bush at a rally on the Russian Invasion of Georgia.

The 2008 Russo-Georgian War would be used by the Republican Party to prove that John Kerry was a weak President. Former President Bush, who endorsed party candidate John McCain at a campaign rally for McCain, made a speech saying that Russia would never have invaded Georgia if he were still president and that McCain would prevent future aggression in the nations of the former USSR.

Time Magazine Coverage of the '2002 India - Pakistan' conflict ie. The Kashmir War

Following worsening relations between India and Pakistan, due to a string of terror attacks in India, both countries mobilised tens of thousands of troops in the disputed region of Kashmir for a short but sharp conflict. To date the largest conflict between two nuclear powers.

We likely wouldn't have as many photos or videos of the Twin Towers from the 1980s and '90s uploaded in this alternate timeline.

A lot of these videos and photos are on the Internet because of the nostalgia for the pre-9/11 era.

The flag and anthem of State Union of Serbia and Montenegro

(Not a comment on the creator’s choice of song, it’s definitely plausible in an AH context since this WAS the official proposal) but I hate the tendency of Serb-led pan national states to just stitch together the anthems of constituent states into one incoherent song. The kingdom of Yugoslavia did the same with the Serbian, Croatian, and (old) Slovenian anthems.

As far as proposed anthems for Serbia-Montenegro go, I’m a big fan of Onamo ‘Namo (which was allegedly proposed IOTL), a pan-Serbian patriotic song written by Montenegro’s first and only king, Nikola, which he had intended to make Montenegro’s national anthem & had been floated as an option a few times in Montenegro and even once in Serbia. It is a bit of an odd song for Serbia and Montenegro since it’s more of a rallying call to liberate Kosovo and Metohija from the Turks and that cause was by that point long over. However I can see it being reframed as a kind of memorial for that time and using the success of the Serbo-Turkish wars & Balkan wars as an inspiration/source of pride going forward. I can also see why a song emphasizing the importance of Kosovo and Metohija to the Serbs might be popular in Serbia-Montenegro given there were problems with separatism in the province.

Still, the official proposal makes more sense but I wanted to bring up that a much better option (at least in that it’s a single coherent song) was proposed IOTL too.

True. You do have a point. However, some videos probably would still eventually get upload (maybe not these two exactly, but still), though they probably won't have as many views as they do in OTL.

They'd most likely just have like 100-200 views ITTL, probably some obscure videos which get randomly get recommended
