During the Iraqi Civil War of 2011 (sometimes called the First War of Kurdish Independence), the Kurdish region declared independence from Iraq. The newly formed Iraqi Republic, exhausted from fighting, allowed the Kurds to become independent.

In 2013, Iraq had plans to resolve these disputes by allowing a referendum to be held in these areas, but a coup occurred, canceling these plans. It wouldn't be until after the 2014-17 Kurdish War (or the Second War of Kurdish Independence) were these regions were in Kurdish hands.

President of the United States (2009-17): John McCain announcing that the US has officially recognized the newly formed Republic of Kurdistan, Summer 2011.

During the Iraqi Civil War of 2011, the US gave weapons to Kurdish and Iraqi republican militias and gave the Kurds weapons again during the Kurdish War (2014-17). Many believe that McCain had pressured the Turks to sign the Erbil Agreement in 2013.

I wonder what types of episodes we could've had if 9/11 and thus, the Iraq War hadn't happened.
Hopefully it would have stayed about small town wacky antics, which it really was about in the first three seasons. Its style of humor noticeably changed after 9/11 and even more since. I still think it’s a good show, but it was hilarious early on, in my opinion.

I mean, South Park always made jokes about politics, jokes about Bill Clinton, and there was a B-plot of an episode that was pretty much a parody of Bush V. Gore.

True, but the big change really happened not surprisingly with the first episode after 9/11, Osama Bin Laden has farty pants. That entire episode was about the war on terror directly and took place in Afghanistan. The jokes about Clinton were brief, like him being portrayed as just casually naked in a cabinet meeting, without any further elaboration, which is the funniest way to make fun of someone imo. The Bush v Gore parody episode was about a current event but all done through the veil of a plot line and it wasn’t directly referenced. I don’t think you could have just ignored 9/11 and it’s aftermath when writing a show like that, so it had to change, but I’d still like to see where it would have gone if it hadn’t. Hopefully we’d see more things like the Cat Orgy-Two Naked Guys in a Hot Tub-Jewbilee Trilogy.

However, the FBI analysis claims the planes were to be deliberately exploded or crashed above-populated areas, such as New York City.

The 2001 pilot to the Cartoon Network hit series “Constant Payne” (2004-Present).
The series is an anime-inspired dieselpunk action-adventure dramedy and science fiction show, with an aesthetic inspired by "Russian wood-block propaganda posters of the 1920s & 1930s, created by Micah Ian Wright. Constant Payne, often called ConPay by its fandom, was originally meant to come out in on Nickelodeon May 2001 however due to problems about unionising writers, the network dropped it.

It wasn’t until Cartoon Network founder and president Betty Cohen stumbled upon the 2001 pilot in 2004 that Constant Payne would get a second chance at life. When Cohen contacted Wright and told him she and CN were interested in his pilot and wanted to make it a full-fledged show starting with 12 episodes, Wright reportedly was completely overjoyed and left his relatively new job in the field of video game writing to join Cartoon Network.

Constant Payne would go on to be one of CN’s best known and successful series alongside the likes of Avatar: The Last Airbender (which premiered on the network in 2008 after Nickelodeon turned the show down for reasons that remain unclear to this day), Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Chowder, Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld, Duck Dodgers, and Sym-Bionic Titan. Though ConPay has out lasted them all and continues to run with new episodes to this day by taking several hiatuses throughout its long runtime – with its current airing season and those of the past being available on the Cartoon Network App.

There is news of a made-for-TV movie coming out next year in 2020 and that it is a supposed crossover between Constant Payne and Nickelodeon’s own Ben 10 (which debuted on that network in 2015). There is much speculation across both shows’ respective fandoms, particularly on the their Aminos and Sub-reddits, that this inter-channel crossover is an attempt by Nickelodeon to keep audiences interested in Ben 10, which has been dropping in quality and viewership over the past couple of years (leading to a lot of Ben 10 fans dropping the show and going over to Constant Payne instead...at least for those who don’t watch both already, they usually just drop Ben 10 & continue watching Constant Payne).

I'm surprised that the NYC skyline in this picture hasn't changed since the 1990s compared to OTL where the skyline looks different with newer buildings.

I just learned a little while ago that when this game was in development, that Spider-Man was apparently suppose to fight Electro on top of the Twin Towers in the final level. However, due to the September 11th Attacks, that part of the game had to be modified and the Twin Towers were replaced with generic skyscrapers with a skybridge.

Raiden (spelled as katakana (ライデン) in Japanese) the main protagonist of the game.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is best remembered by gamers for its exciting ending. Arsenal Gear, a submersible, mobile fortress developed for the United States Navy, crashed through half of Manhattan. The main villain of the game, Solidus Sanke, dies, and Raiden cuts the rope on Federal Hall's flagpole, causing an American flag to fall over Solidus' body. A short coda appears after the credits, a breaking newscast showing the Statue of Liberty's new resting place, Ellis Island.
